My First AWAY Luggage!

Recently I just acquired AWAY luggage and I LOVE it!! I have recently been in the market for a new carry-on that I could take away on all my future travels and was looking for one that not only had great quality but also had all different kinds of compartments. It turns out that one of the recommended videos I got from YouTube was from AWAY luggage. I fell in love with their design for the Polycarbonate Hard-shell carry-ons.

The design, the colors, the different compartments, the laundry bag, the compression system and to top it all of, if you wanted you could buy the carry-on that includes the USB charger!! Which honestly I thought was great because I have been one of those people that have been in the position of having to look for an outlet to charge my phone because it was running out of battery. With all those pros, I decided to go to the AWAY travel website and compare the hard-shell carry-ons.

There was the AWAY Carry-on and then the AWAY Bigger Carry-on. I noticed that the capacity for the AWAY Carry-on was 39.8 liters, with exterior dimensions of 21.7” x 13.7” x 9” inches with a weight of 8.1 pounds. The AWAY Bigger Carry-on is 47.9 liters, with exterior dimensions of 22.7” x 14.7” x 9.6” inches with a weight of 8.4 pounds.

The only thing that was keeping me from buying the AWAY Bigger Carry-on was the chance that it may not be able to fit the airlines I travel in. The website said that it “meets the airline requirements for most major airlines as carry-on luggage” which made me think which airlines does the Bigger Carry-on does not fit. Does the Bigger Carry-on fit in the overhead bin of the airline I constantly travel in? Would it fit the other airlines I have traveled to in the past and would most likely travel in the future?

All my questions were answered by the AWAY website through a list of airlines they provided, which tells you if the carry-on that you are buying fits the airline or airlines you are going to travel in. In my case, the AWAY Bigger Carry-on does fit in the overhead bins of American Airlines (the airline I constantly travel in), United (the one I am traveling now), AirFrance, KLM, JetBlue, Southwest, AeroMexico, AirCanada, British Airways. The last five are airlines that I have not yet traveled in, but probably will in the future.

When I saw that the Bigger Carry-on did in fact fit in those airlines I knew it was the right carry-on for me and the travels I wanted to make. Sure there will be travels that I will maybe have to check in my carry-on due to the size of the airplane, but for the most part, my carry-on will work just fine.

It’s the perfect size because it still fits the overhead bins of the airlines I constantly travel in and it has more room for clothes than the normal AWAY Carry-on. It is definitely an upgrade from my previous carry-ons which dimensions were 21.7” x 13.7” x 9” inches and sometimes even a little bit smaller than that.

Now that I had my sights on buying the AWAY Bigger Carry-on in Navy, I just felt that I needed to complete the travel look. To step up my AWAY game I also purchased the Everywhere bag in Sand Nylon and the Insider Packing Cubes Set of 4 in the color Navy. I went with the Everywhere bag because I liked the design of it, the colors they offered and the compartments. I went with the Sand Nylon because it is the color that I believe would go with most of the outfits I have since I not only thought it would be great for travel but also for other occasions too.

The Insider Packing Cubes were a great find because I hate when things inside my suitcase move around and when you open your suitcase and it's all over the place. By having packing cubes not only will my packing process be so much better, but it will also be organized and less messy to deal with. I went with the color Navy to go with my carry-on. The decision to choose the set of 4 and set of 6, I thought that four was a great number for my carry-on and if I ever found myself using the packing cubes for my bigger suitcase then four would be perfect for organizing the clothes.

I truly cannot wait to try my carry-on and see how the full set looks. To keep up with my travel adventures and my AWAY luggage experiences follow my blog!!
